Mr. Xia Jun is AFPNet's Assistant to Executive Director. In this capacity, he provides strategic direction to pilot projects and capacity building program, and institutional development of the organization.

Prior to his appointment as Assistant to Executive Director, Xia Jun served as the Division Director for bilateral affairs in the State Forestry Administration (SFA), where he oversaw the implementation of 84 bilateral agreements related to forest, wetland and wildlife with 48 countries, including the running of over 20 bilateral forestry working groups, supervised coordination with other Chinese line ministries in forest-related international fora, and the execution of dozens of bilateral cooperative projects. From 2001 to 2005, Xia served as Deputy Director for multilateral affairs. He represented SFA in international negotiations at UNFF, UNCCD, CMS, FAO, ITTO, etc. From 1992 to 2001, Xia was Program Officer in SFA for foreign-aid projects from Germany, Australia, Canada, Finland and New Zealand.

Xia earned a Bachelor degree of Art from Beijing Language Institute (now named Beijing Language and Culture University), China, and a Master of Natural Resource Management from Queensland University, Australia.

He is the Chair of Expert Group on Illegal Logging and Associated Trade, APEC (2014-2015).
